Lauren Casto

Lauren Arel Casto is an enthusiastic teacher, performer, and member of the community residing in Colorado Springs. She has been described as an "elegant and engaging" oboist, and an "inspiring and comprehensive" teacher.
Lauren is a dedicated and nurturing educator. She is currently a band director in District 20. Casto also enjoys teaching a large private studio filled with oboists of all levels, as well as beginning to intermediate pianists. She teaches students the essential skills to be informed and confident musicians and developing human beings. She loves working with young musicians in the community, by adjudicating for Solo and Ensemble Festival and assisting with Honor Bands.
Lauren is passionate about performing in various types of orchestras, She frequently performs with Pueblo Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. She enjoys being able to learn and play a wide range of repertoire, especially music that isn't played often.
Lauren earned her Master's Degree in Oboe from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Oboe Performance and Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her primary instructors include Roger Roe, Linda Strommen, Mark Hill and Fatma Daglar.
When Lauren is not performing or teaching, she enjoys traveling and exploring with her husband and dog, interior design, and up-cycling furniture.
