Music Performance & Technology Camp
July 12th - 26th, 2020
The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association is excited to introduce the Music Performance & Technology Camp for new and current high school students! This 2-week intensive, online collaborative experience will include courses in audio and video editing/production, composition & arranging, modern music making, as well as solo recording projects.
With countless cancellations of summer music camps, concerts, and festivals taking place all over the country, we would like to offer CSYSA musicians a chance to continue their musical growth and gain command of the technology that, as the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated, is now so essential to a 21st century musician.
Participation & Tuition Information
Full tuition is $700 for the 2 week camp. To ensure your enrollment in the camp, a deposit of $150 is due by June 8th. The remaining balance of $550 will be due no later than July 1st, 2020. Payments can be made on our Payment Page, by mailing a check to the CSYSA Office, or by calling the CSYSA Office during office hours. To ensure all musicians are given equal opportunity to participate, financial aid will be available in the application form upon request.
Participants will be responsible for attending all courses and submitting multiple recordings and videos throughout the 2-week period. Using an online collaborative recording platform, students will prepare and record one movement of a piece for multiples of their instrument, or other work. Creativity and flexibility abound! Specific daily assignments will be given and music coaches will direct score study, check in on practice, and mentor students in artistic interpretation.
A sample daily schedule includes:
8:30 am Check-in
9-9:50am Audio recording techniques (Week 1)
Video recording techniques (Week 2)
10-10:50am Composition and arranging
11-11:50 Modern music making

Financial Aid & COVID-19 Statement
It is the intent of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony that all students accepted into the Music Performance and Technology Camp are given equal opportunity to participate. Financial Aid is available to all those who are experiencing financial hardship, including hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CSYSA Board of Directors and Staff want to assure our families that we are taking every precaution necessary to operate safely and minimize health risk to our students and their families. State regulations and CDC guidelines will be implemented in our operational procedures.
