Brian Margrave

Conductor, Bravo! Winds

Brian Margrave is the Director of Bands at Cheyenne Mountain Junior High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He began his teaching career in 2007 with a focus on elementary band programs and is proud to have taught at all seven schools in Cheyenne Mountain School District 12. In 2022, Margrave transitioned to the role of Director of Bands at Cheyenne Mountain Junior High. Under his leadership, the CMJH Symphonic Band was selected to perform at the 2024 Colorado Music Educators Association Conference.

Margrave earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado in 2007 and a Master’s degree from the American Band College at Sam Houston State University in 2010. He is a National Board Certified Teacher and the recipient of the Outstanding Young Bandmaster Award from the honorary band fraternity Phi Beta Mu (Kappa Chapter), which he received in 2015. He currently serves Phi Beta Mu as Secretary and Treasurer.

Beyond his work at Cheyenne Mountain Junior High, Margrave is deeply involved in music education throughout the region. He serves as President and Concert Band Coordinator for the Pikes Peak Middle School Honor Band and is frequently invited to serve as a clinician and adjudicator across Colorado. He is passionate about supporting young musicians at every stage of their development and values collaboration between school programs and youth music organizations.

Outside of the classroom, Margrave enjoys spending time with his wife, Kate Margrave, Director of Bands at Pine Creek High School. Together, they are the proud parents of their daughter, Eva May. The Margrave family shares a love for the outdoors and can often be found exploring the natural beauty of Colorado.
