Conductor of Pikes Peak Wind Symphony
Debra L. Baker is currently the Director of Bands and Head of the Fine Arts Department for Colorado Springs Christian School. Her responsibilities include overseeing all Fine Arts classes and conducting all aspects of the instrumental program including fifth grade beginning band, sixth grade intermediate band, seventh and eighth grade concert band, high school concert band, jazz band, jazz ensemble, and pep band.
Under the direction of Mrs. Baker, the bands perform at school concerts, athletic events, and community functions. The Concert Band travels every other spring to southern California to perform for various festivals and other schools. The Concert Band has performed at numerous festivals including the Music In The Parks festival at Disneyland receiving “First Place” in their class and “First Place” Overall Band.
Mrs. Baker received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree and Master of Music Degree from Kansas State University. Debbie is currently the conductor and musical director of the Pikes Peak Brass Band. Debbie is a founding member and performer with the Rocky Mountain Wind Symphony. She regularly serves as a clinician and adjudicator. Debbie and her husband, Mark, are on staff with the Colorado Ambassadors of Music. She has served as the District 5 Instrumental Representative to CMEA and has served on the All-State Band Governing Committee. Debbie also teaches music methods classes and works as the Woodwind Technician for the Thunderwolves Marching Band at Colorado State University/Pueblo. Mrs. Baker holds memberships in the Colorado Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Educators, the American School Band Directors Association, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Tau Beta Sigma. Mrs. Baker is regularly listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Debbie and her husband, Mark, live in Monument with their two dogs Satchmo and Miles.
