Danny Moore

Percussion Coach

Danny Moore is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and currently resides in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Jacksonville State
University (AL) and a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Colorado State
University. While at CSU Danny served as a graduate assistant for the percussion studio, and drum
instructor for the Colorado State University Drumline. Additionally, he performed with the
Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Loveland Opera Company. In the Fall of 2019, the
Colorado State University Percussion Ensemble was selected to perform at the Percussive Arts
Society International Convention as part of the International Percussion Ensemble Competition.
As a featured soloist, Danny received a standing ovation for his performance of “Girlfriends
Medley” by Bob Becker. Danny is well-versed in the marching arts. While in high school, Danny
participated in the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, where he marched tenor drums. In 2013, he
marched tenors with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, which won the Fred Sanford Percussion
Award for the highest scoring drumline at DCI finals. He returned to The Cadets in 2015, again
marching tenors with the corps. Danny regularly performs on drumset and hand percussion
throughout the southeastern states, and now throughout the state of Colorado. He excels in all types
of genres including classical, jazz, Latin, gospel, rock, and musical theater. In 2010, he was a
finalist in the Percussive Arts Society International Convention Drumset Competition, receiving
2nd place. Danny’s primary drumset teacher has been Chris Fryar, with the Grammy award winning
Zac Brown Band. Danny loves to perform music and enjoys teaching and educating students in
all areas of percussion.
