Teacher at Woodland Park
Ann Brown has lived in Divide, CO since June of 2014 and currently performs with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and the Pueblo Symphony. She also has an active private studio, teaches violin master classes at Columbine Elementary in Woodland Park, and is a sectional coach and Mozart Strings instructor for CSYSA. Prior to her time in Colorado, Ms. Brown was the director and primary instructor for Strings, Inc. based in Jasper, IN and was a 23 year member of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra in Owensboro KY, while also performing with Orchestra Kentucky of Bowling Green and the Evansville Philharmonic in IN. Prior to that she also performed with orchestras in Muskegon, MI and Great Falls, MT. She has been fortunate to perform in back-up orchestras with many famous artists including: Amy Grant, Mark O’Connor, Anne Murray, LeAnn Rimes, Michael W. Smith, and Ronnie Milsap. She holds a BA in Music with a Geology minor from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI, and has also completed all 10 levels of training in teaching Suzuki violin through the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Ann spent 12 summers performing at some of the main lodges in Glacier National Park, MT, (the “showplace of the Rockies”), followed by 2 winter seasons at the Chisos Mtn. Lodge in Big Bend National Park in Texas. In both places she worked as a cook while also serving as director/music minister for “A Christian Ministry in the National Parks”. Ms. Brown and her husband D, a wildland firefighter, have a daughter Carrie, who is a 6 year CSYSA alumni.
