Rick Shaw

Richard Shaw is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder.  Currently Mr. Shaw serves as an Assistant Principal at Mountain Ridge Middle School in Academy District 20. Prior to becoming and administrator, he was a music educator for 26 years, twenty-two of these years in the Academy School District in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He has 16 years of high school and 6 years of middle school education experience in District 20.  His concert bands and jazz bands have been consistent award winners and have been selected to perform at the Colorado Music Educators Conference on 6 occasions.  Under his direction, the marching band at Air Academy High School has been a 3 time state champion, 12 time regional champion and has performed in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade and the King Orange Parade in Miami, FL.  Mr. Shaw is on the staff of the Colorado Ambassadors of Music and conducts the Pikes Peak Concert Band. Currently, Mr. Shaw is the Instrumental Chair for the Colorado Music Educators Association Instrumental Affairs Council and is active in the Colorado Bandmasters Association.   He is in constant demand as an adjudicator and clinician.
