Ingri Fowler
Ingri Fowler is a recent transplant to Colorado Springs from Wichita, Kansas, where she was involved in the music community as a performer and teacher.
Mrs. Fowler taught instrumental music in the Norman, Oklahoma, and Wichita Public Schools. She retired in 2007 after 28 years of training young string players. Most recently, Ingri was the Director of Orchestras at Wichita High School East. Under her direction, Wichita High School East Orchestras were consistently awarded superior ratings at local and state music festivals and received numerous invitations to perform at state and national music conferences. Performances included Kansas Music Educators State Music In-Service (2005), Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, Chicago (1995, 1998, 2002) and Music Educators National Conference (1996). Ms. Fowler and the East High Orchestra program were featured in the August/September 1998 School Band and Orchestra magazine article entitled “A Passion for Teaching.”
In addition to her public school teaching career, Ingri served as an adjunct Professor of Violin at Wichita State University and as string clinician and adjudicator in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Ingri and Wichita State University professor Jacquelyn Dillon-Krass, co-found the Wichita Chamber Players, one of three orchestras included in the Wichita Youth Orchestra program. Ingri is Past President of the Kansas American String Teachers Association and currently serves on the advisory board for the Wichita Youth Symphony and the Wichita Jazz Festival.
As a performer, Mrs. Fowler played violin with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 2009 and was also a member of the Music Theater of Wichita Orchestra and the Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra. She has also performed with the Norfolk Symphony, Oklahoma City Symphony, Ft. Hays State Faculty String Quartet, and the Colorado Springs Symphony (1970-1975).
